Production & Performance Workshops
The production and performance workshops can provide lasting benefits over a range of topics and areas for all musicians, from pre school and beginners to new students, to part-time working enthusiasts right up to university students and professionals.
The workshops vary from one hour up to two full days in length, and may be taken in order of skill from level 1 to level 4 over the course of a year or two if desired.
Richie has all current police checks available on request. |

Level 1 Workshops
*For beginners looking for a fun introduction to music learning.
Level 2 Workshops
*For musicians with some limited knowledge, who own an instrument and wish to further their skills. They may wish to become competent amateurs, or prepare for level 3 and future professional aspirations.
Level 3 Workshops
*For musicians already out doing gigs from time to time, or ready to do so. They will want to understand and master professional demands and techniques for a range of requirements and situations.
Level 4 Workshops
*For professional level musicians looking to hone or expand their own specialist skills.
*Also for music department heads in primary, high school, and advanced education wishing to present specialist skills to their students and teachers.
*Also for music equipment outlets looking to provide professional learning for their staff and clientele to accelerate product interest strengthen client-outlet bonding. |
Level 1 Workshops__________

Creative Interaction 1 - Turning any object into a musical instrument.
Students experience a range of percussion sounds and nature sounds and samples ideas while making fun rhythms and jamming with each other by creatively utilising objects from their surroundings.
- Introduces pitch, timing, dynamics, interaction and creativity.
- Utilises different popular songs for each age group.
- Suitable for reception and primary school inclusively.
- 40 minutes to one hour.
- Recommenced class size 8 to 20.
Beginners Songwriting 1 - A fun overview of songwriting.
Students are exposed to a broad range of songwriting fundamentals such as AABA form, verse, chorus, hooks etc, and they put their chosen concepts into use on-the-spot and choose from that range to collectively write a song.
- Introduces song form, rhyming methods, dynamics, and creative story telling concepts.
- Utilises different topics and points of intertest for each age group.
- Suitable for reception through to senior high school inclusively.
- 40 minutes to 2 hours depending on age group.
- Recommenced class size 8 to 20.
Creative Writing, Performance and Recording 1 - Creative use of objects to compose music and produce a recording.
Students experience recording a range of percussion sounds and ideas while making fun rhythms and composing a piece of music. Students are encouraged to creatively utilise objects from their surroundings and any 'normal' instruments they may have. They then interactively mix it down while experiencing a range of sound effects, equalisation, and song structure concepts.
- Introduces pitch, timing, timbre, interaction, creativity, and basic, fun studio production.
- Provides students with a CD recording of their work.
- Utilises different levels of complexity for each age group.
- Suitable for students from junior primary to early high school.
- 2 to 3 hours.
- Recommended class size 6 to 12.

Level 2 Workshops__________

Creative Songwriting 2 - Writing and performing a song.
Students are taken to the next level of complexity with a broad range of songwriting fundamentals. As in level 1 they choose concepts from the range pesented to put into use on-the-spot while collectively writing a song. Student are also urged to consider
Students learn basic song forms, and collectively write lyrics and music to create a song they can perform. Students are encouraged to bring their instruments, and work interactively with each other. There is also a focus on listening to others and maintaining creative flow by working through the task methodically.
- Introduces song form, lyric writing, basic arranging, interaction and creativity.
- Utilises different songs for each age group.
- Suitable for junior primary to senior high school inclusively.
- Assumed knowledge is a basic understandiong of music, and some experience with performance or writing, whether alone or in a group.
- All classes utilise state-of-the-art Cubase SX3 software for recording and production.
- Richie can bring a mobile studio to your classroom, and work in a variety of environments.
- 2 to 3 hours.
- Recommenced class size 6 to 16.
Creative Writing, Performance and Recording 2 - Creative use of available environment, including sounds, situations, people, and technology, to compose music and produce a recording.
Students learn basic song forms and collectively contribute to recording a song. experience recording a range of percussion sounds and ideas while making fun rhythms and composing a piece of music. Students are encouraged to creatively utilise objects from their surroundings and any 'normal' instruments they may have. They then interactively mix it down while experiencing a range of sound effects, equalisation, and song structure concepts.
